Tele-Therapy

Access High Quality Therapy In Your Own Home

Tele-therapy can be a great way for your child or young adult to access therapy where they can be comfortable and in control in a familiar environment, allowing greater engagement in the therapy process. Sparing children the travel can be beneficial for the entire family, and might also allow parents (and other carers) to be part of the therapy appointment, which can be more difficult when face to face. Young adults often prefer this method of engaging in therapy.

When is Tele-therapy the best fit?

How does Tele-therapy work?

The family simply need access to a computer, IPAD or mobile. In advance of the scheduled appointment, the therapist relevant materials. The parent receives a link to ‘click on’ so they are immediately on-screen with the therapist. Once on-line, the parents involvement in the appointment is discussed and the appointment content and delivery tailored to the child’s (or parents) needs. Interestingly, some children engage better without their parents present for the bulk of the appointment (especially young adults!).

Tele-therapy also allows therapists to use the home environment in therapy without the travel costs incurred of an in-person home visit. Just like face to face appointments, home program recommendations are provided as appropriate.
